Everyone was atwitter and abuzz with the recent endorsement of Barack
Obama by Bill Davidson. Endorsements by Ted Kennedy (for Obama), Bill
Clinton (for Hillary) and George W. Bush (for McCain) capture attention and
headlines on a daily (or, perhaps better said, hourly) news cycle basis. But do
they really affect votes?

It is my opinion that in general they do not. But that is because we're talking
about boring people like Bill Richardson, Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton and
George W. Bush. Would you buy a toothpaste because Bill Richardson uses it?
Would you drink a vodka because Ted Kennedy endorses it? Would you go to a
strip club because Bill Clinton goes there? Would you try to learn to read
phonetically because George W is trying that method? Well, neither would I...

I think it's clear to most that the Democrats have a huge advantage over the
Republicans in getting cool people to endorse them. Aside from Tom Selleck,
the creepy (or creepiest) Baldwin brother and Ron Silver (can anyone name a
move that Ron Silver has been in?), who do the Republicans have? Arnold
Schwarzeneggar is a stud for sure, but at this point I think steroids have
destroyed his body to the point that Shawn White (aka the Flying Tomato) or
the kid who plays Dewey on "Malcolm in the Middle" could kick his ass.
Chuck Norris has street cred like no other Republican, but he wasted it on that
Huckabee dud. On the other hand, the Democrats get hotties and cool dudes
like Scarlett Johannson, Kareem Adbul Jabbar, Jack Nicholson and the Pearl
Jam.

There are, however, some big fish out there who in my humble opinion (or
"imho", as the kids say) can decisively sway the electorate. To date, Obama
seems to be landing most of these "keepers". I'm speaking of course about
Oprah, George Clooney and Robert DeNiro. But other bigwigs are supporting
other candidates (i.e. Steven Spielberg and Magic Johnson for Hillary, Willie
Nelson for Dennis Kucinich...and John McCain's Mom and John McCain's wife
for John McCain).

It is my goal to sway some of these influential endorsers to the cause of the
Willard 2008 campaign. I'm not looking for just any celebrity endorsement
(who wants Tom Cruise or Celine Dion endorsing their campaign? I want the
Dalai Lama, David Beckham and Tiger Woods!) So to sweeten the pot (or shall
I say, the "Schwag Bag") for potential Willard 2008 endorsers, I would like to
point out that I stand on the right side of every single issue I address. And in
addition, I will also give a free Willard 2008 t-shirt to any celebrity of note who
endorses me, and I will buy them a beer/cocktail if they want to swing by and
hang out with me (and have their picture taken with me).

So I throw down the gauntlet! If you are a celebrity (and no, you're not really a
celebrity Donald Trump, so stop calling me) and you want to endorse me, let's
make this work for both of us.

Cheers,

Brad
