Endorsement Request - Mike Krzyzewski
Dear Coach K (can I call you that? It’s much easier than calling you Coach Krzyzewski, and my
computer spell-check program doesn’t know how to spell Krzyzewski, so I might insult you if I spell
your name wrong and I don’t mean to do that…),

I am writing to you today about a matter of great importance. Many people throughout our great
country know you as the highly successful coach of the Duke men’s basketball program. To be
totally honest, I really don’t like Duke basketball; to me rooting for Duke is kind of like rooting for
Stanford. Or rooting for the rich, spoiled kids to beat the scrappy underdogs from the wrong side of
the tracks. I figure that kids going to Duke or Stanford are lined up for successful lives and careers
no matter what happens to their basketball team, so I’m going to cheer for the Mississippi States
and the Eastern Michigans of the world, the blue collar teams, the teams that nobody gives a
chance. I kind of root for the Ivy League teams too, because they’re so nerdy that they truly are
underdogs against all the other college teams. But I digress…

Other people know you from your American Express commercials, or that Bud Lite commercial
where the guy says he’s you and takes your limo. Those people really need to get out more often.

I’m writing to you in your capacity as the U.S.A. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team Coach. That is a
truly patriotic task, and to me there is no higher calling than patriotism. In fact, I am so inspired to
serve my country that I, like you, have chosen to step up and give back to our wonderful nation.
While I recognize my shortcomings as a basketball coach, I do believe I bring a unique set of skills
and abilities to the table that recommend me for the highest office in the land; President of the
United States of America. If you check out my credentials, I think you’ll agree:  www.willard2008.com

I expect that you’ll take to my campaign with the same zeal and enthusiasm you have shown as our
national basketball coach. I look forward to your support and endorsement,

Brad Willard
